One key reason for this caution is the concern that many employers have, that <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">younger people either don&#8217;t have or are losing or have lost the ability to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">verbally<\/span> communicate with others<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The preference of a large faction of people in their twenties to use digital devices for virtually all of their communications is having a <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>dire effect on their ability to &#8220;talk&#8221; with others<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; to form and nurture positive relationships; and this communication shortcoming\/ deficit is causing many employers not to employ this demographic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Astute employers remain mindful of the need for representatives of their business (particularly salespeople) to have a natural ability to meet and talk face-to-face with others &#8211; particularly customers. As I have explained to tertiary students who are working their way through either a commerce degree or a diploma (or similar), if after committing to their first work role (which is likely to be a relatively &#8220;low order&#8221; position in the organisation structure) they have aspirations to improve their work station\/ position within the organisation that they&#8217;ve joined, then they <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">must be able to demonstrate <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">proficiency<\/span> at communicating in a way that causes strong positive connections with key stakeholders (clients\/ colleagues) to occur and be sustained<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The strongest connection between people occurs when people meet and talk <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">face-to-face<\/span><\/strong>. If you want to demonstrate your potential to be a manager\/ leader to your employer, then start by showing your employer your communication prowess.
